This stretch is known as the Dream Stream due to the large trout that call this section of the river home. Caddis hatch starting early in May and continue to the end of October. Fishing along the river and at Longmont Reservoir is within easy walking distance from the entrance. As the South Platte flows east, it pours into a series of Reservoirs. This was one of those clear, sharp Colorado mornings that you get toward the end of August and into September. The Middle Fork can be accessed from a trailhead in Peaceful Valley. As the river exits the park, it runs through various sections of public and private property as it flows to the town of Estes and into Lake Estes.
